Alright, just a little good news. I went and collected my order of two High school DxD books(Volume 4 and 5) which I ordered from my contact some time back. Now I can read the novel in peace during my free time and not have to crane my neck on a computer anymore ^^
Well the bad news is however that I can't read much of it this week due to exams and hence will enjoy it next week :)
However, I swear to buy from either kinokuniya or bk1.jp or yesasia from next time. These 2 books combined cost me a freaking $40 from this contact and I was in a bit of a pinch in regards to my future splurges(I still am). Well as they say all's well that ends well :)

wow, congrats, i really envy you cause you can actually read them...
ReplyDeleteBy the way, how did you learn japanese, you took paid classes?
Thanks ^^
DeleteWell I did a language course for the first 6 months from a language school. After that I just bought their material and studied on my own.
Lucky you!!! As for the price I think that they ripped you.
ReplyDeleteYeah, ikr. The price is 2x the price I would have got at yesasia or bk1.jp.
DeleteEveryone seems to be in for making a little profit in between these days, no wonder it was so expensive. Well I learnt my lesson :)
Envyyyy :P anyways! good luck with your exams :) hope they all go well for you ^^

I got into High school DxD like 2 weeks ago and i have never been so addicted to an anime ever before.I went through the 11 episodes like a fiend and read the light novel in most of my spare time. Never thought i would be reading books lol. After saying that when can we expect Volume 4 life 4? Thanks for all your hard work :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it ^^
ReplyDeleteWell as I stated before, even life 3 isn't completely out yet. I have decided to hand over life 4 and life 5 to code zero due to RL. Though it's mostly tentative and I may pitch in a few random parts once I an done with reading the light novel on my own ;)
I think i get it, so your saying there's more parts to life 3? And what do you mean by handing it over to code zero? Is that another site or something?
DeleteYeah that's right. Theres more of life 3. Code zero is another translator who translated vol1-3. He will probably do life 4 and life 5
DeleteI went looking around and i saw your name on the baka-Tsuki site. Along with code zero and other translators so i understand how it works now. One last question sorry for bothering you so much but do you think its a good chance for life 3 to be released within this month? Or in April?
DeleteWell I doubt it would be anytime this month. Maybe sometime in April I'll be able to release all the parts. This is one of the reasons why I handed it over to Code-Zero since I am having a lack of time at the moment.
DeleteHey akuma, sorry to bother you but i was wondering, could you tell me is it hard to learn how to read the novels in japanese and how hard the japanese realy is not only in reading. Everyone always told me that I am talented when it comes to languages so I thought about trying to learn it.
ReplyDeleteWell If you have an aptitude for languages then I suggest go for it. Learning Japanese depends upon quite a few things but if you regularly watch anime then your vocab and oral skills increase faster. Only tough part is the Kanjis but over time it gets easier and as they say practice makes perfect. I reckon if you do some effort you'll be translating light novels within 2 years.
DeleteHi akuma, just want to drop by and say thanks for all the work you put into translating the light novels. I really enjoy reading them during my free time from law school, issei and company provide good stress relief. :) hope to read more of it in the coming days and good luck with the exams, we're also having ours in the coming week, so its good luck to us both then haha
ReplyDelete-bb
Lol I am glad you enjoy the series.
DeleteAnd wishing you the best of luck for your exams as well. I have a 1 day gap tomorrow before my final examination and I am done ^^
Thanks for the answer Akuma and also thank you for all your hard work on the novel
ReplyDeleteakuma how r you?
ReplyDeletei have a Q, not about the light nocel being translated anytime soon but
if u have like the 3 alphabet: katakana, hiragana, kanji in front of you and tried to translate the book, would it work?
and i want ur opinion which alphabet i should memorize first?
last Q srry to bother: r u like on a school wheres theres like exam for 1 week? man i would like that since it challenges my brain

learn hiragana and katakana first. Kanji is so vast that you will be studying it for a few years. I learned both katikana and hiragana in 1 week of light studying. I'm six months past that and I'm still learning new kanji.
DeleteThat being said; thanks a bunch Akuma for translating these novels. I'm not to the point in my studies where translating is too easy yet. I still take a long long time for each of the lifes in each volume. I may be to volume six now, but it is great to be able to go back and read them in english too.
As he suggested, study Hiragana and Katakana first and then slowly move onto Kanji alongside improving your vocabulary and grammar.
DeleteNah, I have 6 exams in 4 days. It isn't a school but a university where I am studying right now. Only 1 exam remaining for me.
Wow, you're quite fast as compared to me, volume 6 is like >_>
DeleteI am still on life 3 part 4 of volume 4 right now :(
