I quit the novel

Alright, someone in complete disregard to my release policy decided to copy and paste my translations before the 1 day delay period was over. As a result of this, I hereby announce that I have dropped the project. Just be grateful that I didn't ask ALL my translations to be taken down by Bakatsuki.

The IP of that certain someone is: 110.159.27.109

Thanks to you, 110.159.27.109, the progress of updates shall be slower and volume 4 will be on a standstill till someone other takes it up. Your idiocy is commendable. Good work.

  3. Are you really quitting the novel because someone posted a day early without your premisen? I get that your angry and that it's well in your right to do so. But do you really want to make a lot of people disappointed over this? At the same time you've been translating for us out of kindness and on your free time when you could have done anything else. For that I thank you. I only reacently got in to the novel and I have very much enjoyed it. It's sad that you have decided to quit and I do hope that you will change your mind and continuo to translate this epic story for us. I think I can speak for all the fans that enjoy your work that we appreacate your deadication

  5. Sorry for disappointing you guys. Maybe I am having a hot head right now and I ain't thinking clearly, but trust me, I don't want to disappoint you guys either.
Alas, I can't work wholeheartedly when the very leechers I wanted to avoid and the fact that I wanted to interact with the community on a personal level and hence made this site, yet the leechers have come here to do the same stuff which occured previously.

  6. wow. Well, you have my sympathy, but it felt kinda histeric, u srsly need to chill out as by this decision u can only harm "good" fans. Btw by the tone of your previous statements I'm pretty sure it was a provocation and mr 110.159.27.109 just wanted to see your reaction.
    Well, I guess u didn't dissapoint him.

  7. I hope he's happy that I took his bait.

Though I doubt anyone would be in their right mind to try and provoke someone else, unless he can read the series in Japanese on his own (or he doesn't read the series at all and just wanted to troll, which would mean a lot of effort on his part).

  8. you're the best man! dont quit just because someone is trolling you ! :(
anyway, thanks a lot, I really enjoy your translation !

  9. I would love to see you ending the translation on vol.4. Maybe you could translate it here and ask the BT to lock the editing of vol.4 for this 1 day or more you wanted. This way nobody could copy-paste your work and you could achieve what you wanted.

or just ask for deleting vol. 4 translations until you want it to be there.

  10. Ouch =| That guy is a total prick...

I do hope that you reconsider Akuma, as to not punish all of your fans for ones error. I(and I assume, anyone who reads the series in English) really been enjoying your work on volume 4 very much as well as your other works. Whatever your decision is in the end though, I support you whole heartily.

    Thanks :)

  11. isnt there a way you can disable copy and past on your page? i know that the gov sites do it to there pages, but maybe that just for them only. but anyway after 20 years of not reading a book i finally found something i enjoy reading and that bastard screwed it up. i really want to kick his ass right now but thx for your hardwork

    ReplyDelete
  12. wow... they couldn't just be happy with the time and effort your putting into your work, respected your decision to not want it posted for at least 1 day after your translating, and instead screws it up for all of us fans... it will be sad to see you quit this project, as you have the respect of many, and loyal fans... but if you quit then I cant hold it against you. one asshole just had to screw it up, people can never leave a good thing alone. anyways Akuma, thank you for your work so far, I for one appreciate it, as I'm sure many others have.

  13. im really shocked by this, and even more since this is the long waited "long" weekend, pls do not quit just because of this, think about it, this is the internet, and if you feel better im somewhat a hacker and i can give that asshole a lesson!! pls i really enjoy reading your releases and post!

  14. To tell you the truth I can't really understand what exactly that certain someone gained from this. Is it so different to read the novel here and he wanted to move it to BT immediately. Well people are sure a mystery. Anyway, think it over about the quitting since the idiocy of one person shouldn't really get in your nerves. Either way thanks for your releases today.

My english isn't very good but at least i wanted to express my opnion, I realy apreciate your work and I feel realy bad that you're leaving this proyect at the point to ask for something to make you change your decision and I'm not the only who think like that as you can see in those other comments but I respect your decision as a fan and as a person

  23. well i posted this on the Baka-Tsuki facebook and it seems there already looking for someone to take over -.-

    ReplyDelete
  24. :( really loved your translations. I hope you can translate other projects that you like. I stand behind your decision.

    ReplyDelete
  25. really loved the translations and would love for you to continue but i do understand hows annoying it is for someone to repost your work without your concent, but isnt there a way of gettign accounts on bakastuki and here so that people woud find it a lot more difficult to get hold of the transations to copy them on and could get banned of, or am i being dumb?

    ReplyDelete
  26. There is a way in Baka-Tsuki to lock the page from anons' edits. Which would make so only Registered users can edit the chapter, adding or removing things.

After Akuma posts the chapter on BT, the mod can lift the anon restriction again, allowing anon editors to edit the chapter.

But if you really don't feel like continuing on translating novels, I respect your decision and wish you good luck.

  27. Well seeing that there have been incidents of posting summaries before on mine and amario's parts before, I think that's a good idea for the future.

Good news is that I have got a message from another translator picking it up so this makes me have less regrets about it as a whole :)

    1. Well either way im really shocked to know that you wont translate the novel anymore, im sure that this has been the worst long weekend in history for many of us.

Are you SURE that there is no way to make you reconsider and pick up the novel again? Maybe we could do you a favor or something?

And there is no guarantee that this translator will be as good as you!

    2. I am happy you guys like my translations though I suggest waiting for the other one's release (who knows it may be even better than me!)

Tbh, I got a mail from one person saying that he/she wanted to donate for all my work so far, which I naturally declined as that one was done on my own will, and I have quit the project so taking it would be against my rules.

Though that person did suggest I take it up as a donor project, I doubt it would work out, still I am weighing my options.

And don't worry, I would still be working on this novel, viz, volume 12 for you all, so it's not like I have completely quit. Who knows I may come back with a bang when I am in the mood again! :)

    3. I read that you decided to stop posting DxD on Baka-Tsuki. I understand from your point of view why your doing that. You put alot of effort into translating it and just to have some asshole decide to take your work and post it while disregarding your wishes is wrong.

I do enjoy your translations and I hope to see more of them posted on Baka-Tsuki in the future if you ever decide to. I will support your wishes as a fellow fan of the series.

  28. It's a good news that there is another translator.Personally I like your translations and despite the incident (meaning your anger) I would like to continue reading this novel in your blog(: . Anyway whatever you do good luck and thanks for all translations.

P.S: sorry for my bad english xD

  30. Abide by the wishes of the translator whoever did this is a horrible person may he burn in hell

  31. Xin Ye Liu: Well, you guys can tell Akuma that BT mods can lock the page to prevent anon-editing. So only registered users can edit the page along with the chapter.

    from facebook

  32. Akuma, thanks for your hard work translating this light novel. You are the very owner of all your works, so i think all the readers support you in your decision (of course me too, althought I´d like you to continue like everyone else).

BTW: can you post the name of the new translator or his/her blog link?, so that we can find him easier.

Again, thanks for your hard work

akuma,, thank you for your hard work on DxD project at Baka-tsuki. I'd really appreciate it so much :)

  34. Nah, man is too histeric, probably just got tired of translating DxD and found this convenient opportunity, cause there're a lot of ways to prevent anons from editing on Baka. Thanks for translating, but this childish outrage is just funny.

    1. ^Genius. This, my friends is a oerfect example of how not to ask for more releases by thinking you can challenge the translator into working, no matter how frustrated you are. Congrats, volume 8 life has been delaye by 2weeks.

    2. Hey seriously what's your problem do you know how much time it takes to translate and how much he has already done. Your a dumbass if you have a problem with his decision just get over it dont come and start pointless bullshit with people.
Hey Akuma ignore these kind of dumbasses.

  35. Actually that's what I was talking about.
As I don't even read DxD I'm just trying to point out several simple things. U don't owe anyone anything and u don't HAVE to translate. Usually people are doing it 'cause they like it. If you stop enjoying this you just say "sorry guys, I'm done". And here we see a bunch of rules/outrages which kill the whole point of fan translating.
It's not really my business but I seriously think that it's better to just quit smth u don't like than creating a circus.

    1. I doubt that's the case that you took so much effort to come to this blog to post.
If you don't like the rules(which aren't a bunch, but I doubt your simple brain comprehends that), then I'll just say gtfo. If you haven't seen manga release policy on scanlation groups, then I can only say this with ya bro: Ignorance is bliss.

    2. Yeah, a man with a mighty mind who translates tits, u are certainly right, forgive this puny human, u can freely continue your humorous quest.
I posted 'cause all this drama kinda irritated my simple brain, but this way I guess I'm no better than you, huh.

    3. I'll take your word on that.

  36. This is spoken with full respect to translators of all medias and with full consideration of the work they put in. As well as with full apologies for any disrespect that may be garnered from my ignorance.

Cutting to the point, what is the reason for waiting periods?
I've always wondered why translation groups had waiting periods for the things they release.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well... each one has his own, basically aggregator sites means the actual translation group gets less credit.
While if there is a delay policy, people will actually visit the site and say a brief 'thank you' or something of the sort. Trust me, everyone likes their work to be appreciated.

Or it could be just for more pages hits for ads (which isn't the case here as you can see no ads)
